Cherry Pie
Ingredients
1-1/3 cup sugar
1-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
6 cups tart cherries, pitted (1 container of Brookwood frozen cherries) Note - when using frozen instead of fresh cherries, thaw and drain completely before mixing
2 tbsp butter (optional)
Instructions (Serves 8, 1.5 hours)
Heat the oven to 425°F.
Either make your own pie crust, or use pre made crust (your choice).
In large bowl, mix sugar and flour. Stir in cherries. Spoon into pastry-lined pie plate. Cut butter into small pieces; sprinkle over cherries.
Cover top with pastry that has slits cut into it, or make top into lattice (seen in picture). Seal and flute the edges.
Cover edge with 2”-3” strip of aluminum foil to prevent excess browning. Remove foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and juice is bubbling.
Let cool about 2 hours.
